[HANASHIR:11608] Re: Guitars on planes



I've flown twelve times since Sept. 11.  I've
found it about the same as before - try to carry
it on, but bring a hard case just in case.  Carry
the guitar on the opposite side as the person who
takes your boarding pass, smile at them and make
eye contact.  They're less likely to notice/care
about the guitar.  I've had to gate check several
times, but it was always because the flight was
too full or I was in a tiny plane where it
honestly wouldn't fit in the compartments.  Make
sure to loosen your strings, but only after they
make you gate check.  It makes 'em feel bad ;).
