[HANASHIR:10398] hello & question

Hello -- I'm new to the listgroup and have a question.

I am somewhat new to Jewish songleading (started three
years ago), but not new to music education (HS band
teacher/adjudicator and drum instructor for a number
of years). Currently taking graduate courses and
teaching religious school in Philadelphia but
originally from Portland, OR.

Two years ago I began trying my hand at composing folk
melodies on liturgical texts for use in family and
youth services. Some of my pieces have been well
received by my students and/or congregation and I
would like to copyright them. Some questions:

Do I need to write out more than a Lead-sheet form
(i.e., do guitar parts need to be written out
note-for-note on a grand staff, or are chord symbols
sufficient)?

Should I submit a recorded performance with the music
sheet?

Can I copyright a number of pieces all at once and
save any money?

Thanks in advance for any info you can offer.

Beth Hamon

p.s. can anyone in the Philadelphia area suggest where
to go to record an *affordable* demo tape of six to
eight songs? Production values/acoustics at home are
dreadful. Thanks.
