[HANASHIR:10397] Re: Chironomy

I enjoyed Jeff Klepper's discussion on chironomy. Although academically
interesting, it is extremely practical as well. I have found that when I point
for the reader using hand signs for the etnachta and sof-pasuk there is less
chance of error and it is far less obtrusive than a vocal cue. While I believe
that chanting the taamim accurately is important, correcting the tune is not
appropriate. (I also prefer a trope which is somewhat different from the one
other reader's here use). Thus, hand signs provide a way of indicating the
taamim without specifying the trope.Rob Meneshttp://www.geocities.com/rmenes
