Chaverim,
I need your expertise.
If anyone has experience in, or information about, funding the recording and
release of a Jewish CD, I'd love to have a conversation with you.
Some questions are: Is there grant money for something like this even though
I'm not a not-for-profit (501c) corporation? What other ways of funding or
raising revenue, other than completely out of my own pocket or bank loans,
for a "for profit" artist are there?
I've discouraged "investors" because there is relatively little money to be
made in terms of getting a return on an investment. I'm sure I can recoup the
cost and repay investors, but that would be a loan. I'm figuring the cost of
recording (from preproduction through packaging and duplication of the first
1000 CDs) to be around $12,000. I may be able to get 12 people to loan me
money, but I'm not sure I want to put myself in the position of owing 12
people $1000 each.
A dialogue about any ideas is welcome. Let's brainstorm.
I don't know if we want to continue this conversation on or off list. It may
be of interest for some. Please feel free to contact me privately at
NBudin (at) aol(dot)com or 216-360-0381 or 216-403-0384. Or send me your
contact info
and I'll be glad to call you.
Todah Rabah,
