I know, I'm over my daily quota... but nothing for months and then 2 in one
day. Hope some of you can offer suggestions on the following.
I'm running a workshop on Angels in Jewish tradition in a few weeks time. I've
got the basic shape and concepts together and now I'm filling in the details
with some Torah pieces, teachings from the mystics, stories (that's my workshop
co-leader's job - Suri Krieger, who was also at Hava Nashira this year), ....
and songs.
So, we've got Shalom Aleichem (various versions), and the Angels Blessing (also
several varieties), and we might use Ana B'Koach (no specific angel references
in the words, but the kabbalists suggested that you are calling on a variety of
angelic forms whose names we don't know how to pronounce, but consist of the
first letter of each word... the idea is that when you know that help is needed
somewhere but don't know what kind of help, you can recite Ana B'Koach).
That may well be enough - the workshop is only 1hr 15 mins. But are there any
other songs from the tradition that have angelic connections that you can think
of?
With thanks,
Rachel Gurevitz
