There are two possible alternatives to the kinds of "healing"
activities suggested.
One example can be found with a group called "Mayyan" which
exists in New York State north of the "Big Apple". It is an
alternative approach to some Jewish religious ceremonies while
utilizing many of the concepts which have been discussed in these
communications. Some of their activities are rooted in the Kabbalah.
A second possibility was presented at a West Coast ACC/GTM
meeting in Scottsdale, AZ in early 2000. It involved a psychologist
who was familiar with certain American Indian rituals and had adapted
them to Jewish conceptual practices. There were essentially no
inconsistancies or aspects which were contrary to Jewish practice.
His approach was not to figure out what to do in a healing ceremony
or activity, but rather to help people to relate their problems and
feelings to experiences relating to nature where seasonal creation
and re-creation are concepts which are easily understood. Since
there are many Indian tribes which can be found throughout the United
States and Canada, it would seem logical to consider existing healing
traditions rather than to try to re-invent the wheel.
