okay, colleagues: have a field day with this one -
off the top of your heads: if you had to recommend to a public school music
teacher, one, and only one songbook collection to purchase in order to find
"authentic" jewish music to arrange for elementary/middle school choral,
instead of doing those horrific "written for chanukah" octavos, what would it
be?
i'm in the process of posting a list of such books on a music educator's list
serve, and thought i'd get your input if you care to take a minute. put
yourselves in the position of a public school music teacher looking through a
book - you need current transliteration, and good translations, and not much
hebrew, and lots of "secular" songs to choose from.
