[HANASHIR:9891] Re: pre-school music

Rachelle,
I am the Cantorial Soloist, Hebrew School Music teacher, Cantorial Student,
and Bar/Bat Mitzvah trainer at my shul. I find that my Sunday morning Hebrew
school teaching is very taxing on the voice, as I teach grades K-3. Like
you, I do a lot of singing with them accompanied by the guitar. Last year I
bought a portable microphone system to help alleviate the stress on my voice
from both singing and speaking above talking kids. The device I use is
called a Chattervox. It is worn at the waist like a fanny pack and connects
to headphones with a mike at the head. It is very comfortable and has a
pretty decent sound for a Hebrew school setting. I have known a lot of
teachers who have gotten nodes from talking loud and singing too loud. This
really helps. I bought it on the advice of my voice therapist. If you want
to know the company from whom I purchased it from please e mail me privately.
By the way, it runs on rechargeable batteries that last forever.

B'shirah,
Donna Gordon
