No prayers-- no teaching religion-- yes teaching ABOUT religion.

I guess we need to ban all money from public schools, too ("in G-d we trust"
is inscribed on them). And get rid of the Pledge of Allegiance, too. Disallow
teachers from saying "thank heavens". How far do we take this?

After the holidays I will be returning to once-a-week preschool classroom
teaching. A favorite song among teachers and kids alike is Doug Cotler's
touching Thank You God. I have been warned (rightly) by the principal to avoid
reference to moms in songs, since one unfortunate child lost his mom this year.
I don't want to stop singing the song and the kids who know me will wonder why
I miss the last verse "Thank you for my mommy, thank you for my dad, they love
me when I'm happy, they love me when I'm sad". Any suggestions?
      Rachelle
