[HANASHIR:9846] Re: mom and dad

Church and state is not an issue since I teach in a Hebrew Day School.
However, just as a note on that, Canadian, especially in Quebec, are completely
different from US laws regarding religious education in schools. In this
province Moral and Religious Education is a required subject although there are
various permutations of such, some more moral/secular than religious.

There should be complete separation of church and state. God, or similiar
words should not be in Public Schools.

After the holidays I will be returning to once-a-week preschool classroom
teaching. A favorite song among teachers and kids alike is Doug Cotler's
touching Thank You God. I have been warned (rightly) by the principal to avoid
reference to moms in songs, since one unfortunate child lost his mom this year.
I don't want to stop singing the song and the kids who know me will wonder why
I miss the last verse "Thank you for my mommy, thank you for my dad, they love
me when I'm happy, they love me when I'm sad". Any suggestions?
