[HANASHIR:9825] Gates of Understanding

While attending Mifgash Musicale at HUC this summer, Josee Wolff, head of the 
synagogue commission on music, urged us all to purchase Gates of 
Understanding/Shaarei Binah 2 in preparation for the High Holy Days.  Put out 
by CCAR Press, it gives detailed background information to each prayer in Gates 
of Repentance, the UAHC machzor.  I am getting so much out of it, that I wanted 
to take this opportunity to recommend it to all who lead services or direct 
choirs. If, like me, you lead services and/or direct choirs without benefit of 
a formal cantorial education, this may be a helpful resource.  It is available 
from CCAR Press and Amazon.
