[HANASHIR:9814] Re: songs, in light of today's events

A few comments about the events of the past few days:

At a woman's group meeting here in Nashville last night, where I was asked to
sing, we went around the room and talked about our feelings about these
horrible events.... Each individual expressed similar feelings, how we have
all cried for "family" and "friends" who we have lost, even though we never met
them. We each felt especially sad hearing about the cell phone calls...most of
us carry cell phones and it is something we could relate to. Since one says
the Shema if they know death is imminent, we sang a very emotional Shema for
the victims. We also sang a niggun, to bring into the room the memory/spirtis
of lives lost, and also (my upbeat, joyous version of...) the Aleinu, to
celebrate life and creation/Creator.

The good that will come from this terrible tragedy, aside from increased
security measures in our nation, is that we are all uniting to do good deeds
and to pray.
