I have to think there's more than the reasons brought up by Andy and Adrian.  
For example, if playing guitar is not my "business," if I have the guitar 
properly tuned and in place before Shabbat, and if I use a 12-string guitar 
to alleviate the grief of a broken string, am I within the limits?

I don't know, I'm asking.
