I think we miss an important point here. It's not like there is a dearth of
Jewish music. Plenty of people, including many on this list, are actively
engaged in writing Jewish music. And many before them. Some wrote/write in
the styles of the music of their time, others harken/ed back to older
traditions, and some blaze/d new musical trails. Before we turn to music
outside these sources, isn't it worth trying to exhaust them first? I think
it dishonors those who diligently work to teach our Jewish heritage and
traditions through composing music to not prioritize them for use above
external sources.
