[HANASHIR:7486] Calling all Jewish Student Artists (well, sort of)

Hi,

Noah's request reminded me that you guys are an awesome resource.
I am on the organizing committee for "Colouring Ourselves", a Jewish Students Art Festival in Toronto.  The festival will run from March 5-7 of 2001.  Two years ago the festival won a big award from Hillel for excellence in programming (and we could have won it last year too, but you can't get it two years in a row).  This year some of the past organizers will be travelling to (I think it's) Chicago for the Hillel Leaders Assembly to be presented as a model for a great program.  We are currently working hard at the process of finding artists before the January 12th submission deadline so that this year will not be an exception to the rule.
We include all art forms, specifically, Visual Arts, Music, Film, Dance, Theatre, Spoken Word (ex: poetry), Creative Writing and Comedy (which is new this year).  All work must contain some sort of Jewish content, but we define that term very broadly.  If the work is created by a Jew, we deem it to have Jewish content by osmosis.  If the artist is not Jewish, but the content is, then that's OK too.  And, you don't really need to be a student.  recent graduates and members of the greater campus community are also considered.
So, basically, it's a Jewish Student Art Festival, only you don't need to be Jewish or a student. :-)
If you or anyone you know would be interested in getting their hands on an application, please email me privately and we can arrange to get one to you.  Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we will be able to assist you with the cost of your travel to Toronto.  But, if you are submitting a film, a script, writing of any kind, you only need to pay postage.  Last year we produced a book for attendees of the festival to take home with them.  All indications are that we will be doing the same this year.  This is another way that people can participate in the festival at a distance.

Thanks,
               Marc
