The opening and closing nite speeches need to be minimalized.  It was 
ridiculous especially the first nite when everyone was tired and the 
entertainment did not start until very late.  
It just wasn't appropriate.  You asked, I told!!!

Perhaps instead of speeches opening nite, you should let new talent each sing 
one song.  They would apply to you in advance with an audition tape, etc.
