[HANASHIR:6437] Re: Certification of Synagogue Musicians

I'll turn your argument on its head by using Michael's argument! The most
common complaint I hear from people is that they might want to go to
cantorial school but can't because of cost, time required, location, etc.

So my proposed certification provides an alternate route to learn about
synagogue music. It would certainly be more accessible than HUC.

Why would we never accept uncertified teachers in our public (or even
private) schools, yet there is this hue and cry about asking synagogue
musicians and music educators to seek a form of certification? Dowe value
what is taught in religious school and the synagogue any less?
