[HANASHIR:6088] Re: songbook

Hello Iris,

You are right that separate song books/sheets are cumbersome, but they do
seem to help with the singing along. If a song is significantly different
(e.g. Rachelle Nelson's Modim) we print out the words in the Fri. night
service card or type up a song lyric sheet for our smaller, more intimate
Shabbat morning service. People definitely started singing along more with
Jeff Klepper's Elu Devarim (which changes the order of the prayer somewhat)
after the words were printed up. At this evening's oneg I will be leading a
zemirot sing-along after soloing at the regular service. For this I have
prepared a 4-page booklet with words in the right order (e.g. Carlebach's
Oseh Shalom, Chitman's Adon Olam). Credits are always on the sheet, which I
think raises awareness for people and helps them choose the composer's CD's
for themselves at home.
