Rachelle,
The general answer for your question is that when the prayerbook was
codified, several versions of many prayers existed. Saadia Gaon and
Amram Gaon chose from among the prayers they knew and inserted different
versions on the same theme in morning and evening services. I suspect
the same was true of R'tzei which is known as the "Avodah" prayer -- a
request for God's acceptance of our prayers. Why the editorial
committees of the various "Gates" books chose which for when is a
question I cannot specifically answer.
