[HANASHIR:5995] Re: Taping services at Hava Nashira

Sorry if this echoes something already said ...

I was in some ways _glad_ that we were not allowed to tape the services
at HN last year. I surely would have, if we had been allowed to, and it
would have been distracting for _me_ to keep checking that my machine
was running properly & not yet out of tape.

I am reminded of the summer I spent, as a teenager, living with Orthodox
relatives: on Shabbat I did not write, or carry, or do much of anything
except go to services & visit. Although the restrictions were in some
ways very uncomfortable, in other ways they were also freeing.

So: could there perhaps be a roster of individuals who would volunteer
to tape one service each, which could then be reproduced for anyone else
who wanted copies? (Maybe two tapes of each service should be recorded,
in case one doesn't come out). At most there would be one or two sets
of on-off clicks, and the rest of us could concentrate on the service
itself.

Or here's another idea: I could bring my camcorder, which has 120
minute videotapes, & videorecord services, with copies to others
afterwards. One of our congregation here has a Video business, and
would probably be willing to make & send out copies for a reasonable
charge - I can ask him if this would be of interest. To record you just
set up the machine, turn it on, & let it run.

Just my two cents worth...
