[HANASHIR:5969] Edelweiss at a Bat Mitzvah service

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this one. The father of a bat
mitzvah-to-be has requested that I surprise his daughter by singing one
of his favorite songs, Edelweiss (yes, the one from The Sound of Music),
at her bat mitzvah service during his speech to her. He wants me to
change the words "bless my homeland forever" to "bless my Michelle
forever". I tried tactfully to suggest that the song has nothing to do
with anything but he's pretty adamant that the song is meaningful to
him. Anyone else been in a situation like this? Do I go ahead and make
him happy and sing it at the service or insist that it's not relevant to
a bat mitzvah service and refuse?
