I've been wanting to ask a financial question too. As many of you know, I 
represent a Humanist Congregation. Our bar and bat mitzvot services are 
written by the families, and we do not follow a traditional ritual. Thus, 
when I am asked to lead the music; I do it as a songleader/presenter for the 
congregation. We can be 1-7 musicians and singers.For these I rehearse, 
write lead sheets, schlep stands, etc. I often lead 6-7 songs per service. I 
have worked at seven this year. How is payment arranged for something like 
this where you all are? So far, I haven't asked for money seeing it as my 
role as music director cum chair of the music committee. However, next year 
there maybe as many as 15, and I think that is above and beyond....
