[HANASHIR:5939] Re: high holiday pay

Judy- You ask a good question and it depend, in some measure on the experience
and talent of the song leader- We paid ours some $2,250 which included
expenses. He slept at our home and ate at our home.

On the other hand, there are some people who might just want the experience so
they can com, mand a salary next time around-- A small congregation, with no
budget, possibly can afford expenses only..
Not great but still a possibility. I remember when I didn't have a pulpit- I
felt lost on R.H. & Y.K. and would have loved to be on a pulpit. Even for
expenses.

  Subject: [HANASHIR:5938] high holiday pay

I often get requests (through the services I offer at Jewish Entertainment
Resources) from people to find someone to sing at their congregation or Hillel
for the high holidays. Often these are small communities. I am wondering what
is a reasonable amount for a congregation like this to pay for someone to do an
evening service for each holiday, a morning service for each holiday, Yizkor
and Neilah. Also, how much more would they need to pay to offer a family
service for each holiday. These are places who do not have large budgets, so I
am wondering what would be the low end of the scale that someone would want to
be paid to travel to do the holidays. Of course, expenses would be additional.

  Judy :)
