[HANASHIR:5807] Pesach Drash

Thought I'd share a Pesach drash learned from my teacher Rabbi Louis Seigal:

When retelling the story of the four sons, we malign the third son by
calling him "simple".

If we look at the phycological attempts to score by the sons we see the
CHACHAM, wise son, scoring by saying why do we .... The RASHA, wicked son,
also scores points though they are negitive points by saying that he knows
it all and why do you .... The third son asks "What's happening?" He's
called TAM, mistranslated as simple. The proof text is quoted to say - Who
makes wise the simple - MACHKIMAT PETI. PETI is the word for simple. Rabeinu
Tam was not the simple rabbi but the complete rabbi. Therefore the third son
asks the scholars' question in his desire to learn and not to score points.

Have a sweet and comfortable Pesach
