Steve, I have to disagree. This IS about songleading, or more properly, about
PRAYER leading. I did not mean to open a Pandora's box here. I will NEVER
judge the validity of one practice or another. I just care about what works
for ME. The only time it presents a problem is when a congregant comes up to
me after services and says, "Brian, I am SHOCKED, you repeated G-d's name 4
times!" or another says, "Can't you do some English singing instead?" I always
try to find a balance in meeting each congregation's needs...EXCEPT when
leading Orthodox services, where I avoid all repetition of words and try to
follow all the fine-print instructions in the Artscroll Siddur.
Shabbat Shalom, everyone!
