Chevre: greetings for the first time. Glad to see familiar "faces" on this
list. Although I am presently a pulpit rabbi in Baltimore, some of you know
of my music background, about the RRC "ApiChorus", which I founded and
directed at the Recon. Rabbinical College '92-'99, (and taught nusah) and my
current project, Director of Music and Liturgy for the Jewish
Reconstructionist Federation.
Rabbi Leila Gal Berner is one of many Recon rabbis who have written
marvelously creative and singable songs - for liturgy, life cycle, and other
occasions. I have been working on a songbook, and am also recording a tape/CD
that will accompany our siddur series, Kol Haneshamah, to include some of our
movement's best-loved melodies, in addition to traditional nusah.
I am so grateful for all of you wonderful and inspiring cantors, song
leaders, choir directors and educators, who continue to be "manhigey
ruhani"/spiritual conductors through our incredibly varied musical and
liturgical resources.
Beshalom,
Liz
