[HANASHIR:5463] Re: Isaac and Ishmael

The music to Rabbi Leila Gal Berner's Isaac and Ishmael is on a tape she made a
number of years back
called Hevdelim. It is not widely available. I learnt the song from the tape
to sing at the Seder
of Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael that Arthur Waskow put together (published in
Tikkun last year) that
we did at B'nei Jeshurun, NY (one of those projects I mentioned last post).
I'm not sure the best
way to recommend how you get hold of it - the tape I learnt from belonged to
someone else. You
could try looking Leila up on the web, or maybe call Elat Chayyim for contact
details (she teaches
there in the Summer) on 1-800-398-2630 (I wonder if their gift store even has
the odd copy still?).
She also teaches at the Dept. of Religion, Emory University, so you might trace
her that way. If
you get desperate and are willing to call the UK, email me privately to arrange
for me to sing it
down the phone!

The other music we used at the Seder was Hagar and Sarah, by Linda Hirschhorn
(on a tape with a blue
cover and her in the middle from the 1980s, but with updated words that are
better, printed in the
Seder that appeared in Tikkun). We also sang Lo Yisa Goy. And Od Yavo Shalom
Aleinu would
certainly be suitable.
