In response to Meris' reply that I need to sell my prinicipal on the 
importance of the music program:
        a)  I'm not the music teacher.  I teach third grade and do tons of 
music 
in the classroom, but I doubt I could sell her on the need for third grade 
to accumulate music books
        b) more importantly, is it my school's responsibility to buy books that 
I 
want to keep?  I don't think so.  I'm doing a lot of songleading in the 
community and I don't think my school should shoulder the burden of my 
materials, given the financial constraints we already have.   Maybe I could 
write a grant for purchasing music.  Any ideas out there?
