I hadn't thought of that! Thanks for pointing out the relationship. It
seems more likely related to French than Hebrew. In fact, now that I think
of it, I believe French music of all kinds, especially the Notre Dame
repertoire was used in England during that period. I was thinking of the
thirds and sixths as tonal relationships that could be represented by the
number three or gimel, which seems so close. Is that how we got the name
Gemini? What about Gematria? We seem to twin up words that way...
BTW, Janet, I recently had the wonderful opportunity to solo at Beth El in
Flint. They recently got a new building and it has a very warm
congregation to fill it. Just thought I'd let you know.
