[HANASHIR:5069] Using Forever Young

Dear Hevre,

I just feel the need to add my two cents to this conversation about the use
of Forever Young. I have been asked to sing it on more than one occasion
and I will tell you that I always refuse.

Why do I refuse? Because it is a secular song and I would be singing it in
the context of a religious service. I am not saying that we should never
use secular music in our services. There are many occasions when it may be
appropriate. I however, feel that there are many songs of blessing that
can be used during a Bar/Bat Mitzvah that I do not need to pull from
mainstream America.

Again, just my two cents.
