according to Pasternak ... and also in "Gates of Song" the poem is by N. Imber,
not Herz. I'm wondering now what the correct attribution is ... but what I
really need to know is when it was scored ... where's Judah when we need him?

Hatikva was first written as a poem in 1878 and published in 1886. The
author was Naphtali Herz-- Samuel Cohen set it to music.
Somewhere along the way, Dr. Nurit Reshef had something to vdo in creating it
as a National anthem.
