[HANASHIR:4787] GUITAR ADVICE

I am looking for some good advice to give to a parent of a 10-11 year old who 
asks me what to buy the child in terms of a first guitar.  Do young students 
usually start with a nylon string folk type guitar? That's what I did as an 
11-yr-old, and only played steel strings when I got older...but that approach 
might be passe these days!  I'm interested to know what ideas you all have to 
offer!
