klezmer music in Germany (colloquium Cornell University)

Dear people of the list,

Fitting into the framework of the recent (and recurring) discussions on
Jewish/klezmer music in Germany, I like to announce the forthcoming
colloquium of our Music Department at Cornell University on Jewish music in
Germany. As I have seen from the questions of Roger Reid and the answer of
Sam Weiss, it seems that little information on scholarly research regarding
this topic has reached the U.S. Rita Ottens and I have written two books on
Jewish musical traditions, both of which contain relevant portions on the
reception and production of Jewish music in today's Germany. Ottens has also
published two articles in Neue Zeitschrift für Musik on the topic [both of
which are available for downloading at
http://www.rubin-ottens.com/downloads.html, for those of you who can read
German], and a large scholarly article should soon be coming out as part of
the web-based proceedings of a recent conference at the University of
Wisconsin in 2002.

For those of you within driving distance of Ithaca:
