I meant to add, re:

and speaking of setting poetry to music, that not for nothing
was a superb TV special -- I don't know if it was PBS -- on
Dylan and the Beatles and the music they inspired called
"Shakespeare in the Alley" (after, of course, a line in a
Dylan song).
Speaking of which, here's this week's OK-not-Jewish music
trivia question:
What's (sfaik) the only (commercially) recorded Beatles song
with only acoustic instrumentation?
