in the just released "YIVO =bleter," (new series, #4, 2003) a
yiddish journal from the YIVO Institute, there are a couple of works
of interest to list members:
Eleanor Gordon-Mlotek, "Y.L. Peretz's Collection of Yiddish Folksongs"
Mark Slobin "On Beregovskis Work on Purim Shpil"
Moyshe Beregovski, Yiddish translation of his Russian introduction to
the volume of Purim shpiln.
Robert Rothstein, "Macaronic Songs: A Slovak-Yiddish Example"
David Rogow and Samuil Goldenberg, "Index to "Readers Recall Songs".
[ this is the column in the Yididsh forward that Chana and Yosl
Mlotek began in 1970, and Chana continues today].
The editor is Dr. Paul Glasser.
The other contributions are also important for anyone interested in
Yiddish folklore.
I also have a contribution "yiddish folk laments" which has a slight
connection to song.
