Introductory Text We Didn't Use

Talking about commercialism in Jewish music, we'd like to post the first
draft of Alan Bern's liner notes to our freshly released CD, 'heymisher'...

Christian Dawid
Khupe

"Sanne and Christian paid me to write this. I wanted to get that out in the
open so nobody could worry about favoritism. Another thing is, I'm pretty
sure I wasn't their first choice, since I already wrote the text to their
first CD. For your second CD you want to have somebody more, well,
important. But all the more important people they asked were too busy.
Donald Rumsfeld was too busy making the world safe for the apocalypse. Tony
Blair said he'd write something just as soon as he finished prostrating
himself in front of George Bush. Bush wanted to write something, but he
hasn't learned to write yet. Giora wanted to write something, too, but after
listening to the CD he decided there was too much Jewish music on it. So the
job fell back to me again, and as I said, Sanne and Christian did pay me for
my objective and expert opinion.
So here it is: I love this CD! I love it because it's serious and funny,
traditional and original, honest and ironic, because you can hear how much
they enjoyed making it and because their playing is just great.
What? You suspect I'm only writing that because I was paid to? Well, they
only gave me EUR 5, which can hardly buy my love and honest opinion! For
that I'd need to get at least EUR 14.97!
So you can trust me. Get this CD.
Or at least burn a copy from a friend who already has it."
(Alan Bern)
