Those are their real names, Hugo Peretti and Luigi amonst many others, they 
produced:

Sam Cook - many of his early hits such as "Chain Gang", 
Little Peggy March - "I Will Folow Him"
Jimmy Rogers - "Honeycomb"
The Tokens "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"
Elvis Presley (wrote songs for Elvis and others as well)

At one time I remember when there was a rumor that Hugo & Luigi were a couple 
of Jewish boy working under phony names.
