Though it's mostly off-topic, some list members may want to know about
the Golden Festival (Balkan and other East and Southern European and
mid-Eastern music and dance.) Three venues of continuous music from 6pm
to 3am.
Good Shepherd School, 620 Isham (near
207th St. and B'way) in Inwood, upper Manhattan
A train to 207th Street
To keep it on-topic, let me say that you can hear the songs of the
legendary Greek JEWISH singer, Roza Eskenazi performed
at 7:30 in the kafana, performed by the Asia Minorettes
(Jen Chapin, Gladys Comeau, Ramona Kohrs, Joan Marinakis, and Laura
Pannaman, directed by yours truly, and accompanied by Adam Good on
dzhumbush, Phaedon Sinis on kemenche, and Peter Jaques on clarinet.)
and at 9:30 also in the kafana, performed by I Belalidhes
(Yours truly on vocals, with Adam Good on dzhumbush, Phaedon Sinis on
kemenche, and Peter Jaques on clarinet.)
See you there!
Carol
