Shtreiml at the Tonic, NYC, Dec 1 1:30PM
Montreal's Shtreiml is coming to New York to play its bright mix of klezmer and Yiddish folk music. The group's repertoire showcases bandleader Jason Rosenblatt's unique approach to playing the 10-hole diatonic harmonica or "blues harp." Using recently devised techniques pioneered by harmonica master Howard Levy, Rosenblatt takes the instrument generally associated with the blues and fits it neatly into an Eastern European context. With Hip-Hop Guru Josh Dolgin (accordion), Thierry Arsenault (drums), Abby Rosenblatt (Vocals), Taylor Bergren-Chrisman (bass)
Shows 1:30, 3:00. Tix $10 or $15 for both. The Tonic is located at 107 Norfolk Street, between Delancey & Rivington, NYC, NY. Take the F train to Delancey Street station. (212) 358-7503. Web: http://www.tonic107.com/.
