ATTENTION KLEZMORIM AND JEWISH MUSIC FANS:

Do you love Klezmer music?  Wouldn?t you love to learn

Then you?re in luck!  This winter, Los Angeles will be home to the only Yiddish 
intensive on the West Coast where you can learn all about the richness of 
Yiddishkayt and get a deeper understanding of the culture that our beloved 
Klezmer music.  At ?The Art of Yiddish,? it?s easy to start learning!  It?s the
perfect time to explore your roots through the vitality, soul, and humor of 
Yiddish culture.

THE THIRD ANNUAL WINTER YIDDISH INTENSIVE

 THE ART OF YIDDISH: A tour de force
An immersion in the living language, literature,
theater, film, and dance

Royce Hall, UCLA Campus, Westwood Village, CA

 PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

*Special Guest ED ASNER will narrate (in English) the
only West Coast production of the Yiddish
Upstairs/Downstairs-esque comedy ?MENTSHN,? (?FOLKS?).
 Written by Sholem Aleichem (author of the stories
that inspired ?Fiddler on the Roof?), this play will
feature both local and international popular actors.
(December 21)

*ONE-DAY YIDDISH EXPERIENCE (Dec. 15):  Day-long
immersion in Yiddish culture with muli-level Yiddish
conversation, singing, storytelling, and ?Expressions
your Bubbe (grandmother) never taught you? with
internationally renowned humorist Michael Wex

*DAILY MORNING LANGUAGE CLASSES (Dec. 16 ­ 20):  Begin
or improve Yiddish reading, writing, and conversation
skills at any level with four of the best
native-Yiddish-speaking language teachers in the
country.

*LIVE KLEZMER MUSIC (Dec. 14 and 21)

*YIDDISH DANCE WORKSHOP (Dec. 16): led by Karen
Goodman, critically acclaimed choreographer/performer
and teacher

*YIDDISH FILM SCREENINGS:  classic cinema: ?THE
DYBBUK? (the original ?Exorcist?) (Dec. 19) and 
?GREEN FIELDS? (after the work of a modern Yiddish
writer from Los Angeles) (Dec. 17) with subtitles in
English

*LECTURES ABOUT YIDDISH DRAMA AND LANGUAGE with a
company of Yiddish experts (Dec. 16-20)
