Mildly OT: Dance to Sephardic music

For any of you booking Jewish-themed performing arts. I've not seen the
group but offered to post this notice as a courtesy to the artistic
director. Kindly contact her off-list for any follow up.

Best,

Joel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Linda Diamond and Company, a professional modern dance group based both in
NYC and Woodstock, N.Y. has an interesting program entitled "Jewish roots
in Modern Dance". There is a program in Sephardic music and contemporary
dance style which includes several works by the late Anna Sokolow, who
created four of her last works specifically for the Linda Diamond & Company
group.

Three of these works are entitled "Durme Durme" (from the song of the same
title, a lullaby), "Una Semana" (from the song "La Semana") and "Como La
Luna y el Sol" (from the song of the same title). There is also a
contemporary work "Amor" (the last work she ever created, at age 88). Other
works include "Kaddish" revised for Linda Diamond (a solo work dating from
1944).

Other Sephardic pieces are by choreographer LINDA DIAMOND and include: "Las
Escondidas" (a collage of music pieces), "La Prometida" (the Intended one),
and "Mamma Mia".

In addition to these Sephardic works, there is "Secret Annexe" (based on
the Diary of Anne Frank), a solo work which is now in the archives of
Lincoln Center Dance Collection, The Dance Library of Israel, and the
Holocaust Museum archives in Washington D.C. Other works include "Hommage
to Chagall" with music by Steve Reich and David Goldberg, and Hari Deuter.
