I *think* Bob is actually *not* being entirely tongue-in-cheek--so, fwiw:
Velvel Pasternak always taught, and I'm sure has written, that you could
actually differentiate Hassidic groups/dynasties (e.g., Chabad from Bobov
from Satmar, etc.) by which *vocable(s)*--that's the musicological word for
these wordless syllables--they used in singing their (wordless) niggunim.
I don't have at hand precisely which assignments of vocables to dynasties he
made, if he made them--but I can certainly post them in time when I next
have access to that info.
