There used to be - and undoubtedly still is - a group of Israeli and
Palestinian musicians playing together called "Bustan Avraham." ("Garden
of Abraham.") They toured to St. Louis some years ago and were very good.

hi, just returned from a concert here in Toronto, "Imagine Peace", with
Palestinian (and other MIddle Eastern mostly Muslim, some Christian
Coptic) and Jewish (Ashkenazi) musicians - some great singing in Arabic
and in Yiddish (latter by David Wall) and it was somewhat mind-blowing
to have a chorus of Muslims singing the refrain of "Mashke"! The last
few numbers were for dancing - from both musical sides, but with
everyone dancing together, as indeed the musicians played and sang
together. No one talked politics. No one talked about The Situation. A
brief utopic interval, which should not have been either brief, utopic
(should be daily reality) nor just an interval.... it was great - Judith
