On Friday, June 21, 2002 at 8:45 p.m., Temple Beth Avodah will present
a Concert of Yiddish Theater Music starring Cantor Rivka Isachar and
Cantor Isaac Kriger. Come join us for a nostalgic and colorful evening
of musical favorites from the Yiddish Theater. The concert is a
musical documentary of the Yiddish Theater covering 100 years of the
American-Jewish experience. Admission is Free.
Temple Beth Avodah is located at 45 Pudding Stone Lane, Newton

CANTOR ISAAC KRIGER, Lyric Tenor, born in Mexico, was a principal lead
tenor with the Israel National Opera and has appeared throughout
Europe and the American continent. His formal concert credits include
the soundtrack for the Hollywood movie "HAPPY" starring Dom DeLuise, a
Radio Broadcast solo concert for Austrian National Radio, a concert
appearance at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, and as tenor soloist
on the recently released CD of the "JOHN F. KENNEDY REQUIEM" by the
American composer William Macelli. He has also performed extensively
for Jewish Organizations in the New England area and has appeared on
national television on "The Jewish Entertainment Hour".
CANTOR RIVKA ISACHAR-BENJAMIN, Soprano, Israeli-born, has received
critical acclaim for her recent performances in the title role of
Madama Butterfly with Connecticut Opera on tour and for her
performances as Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata. A winner of numerous
competitions and awards, including the coveted award in the
Metropolitan Opera Auditions, Cantor Isachar-Benjamin has been
featured in recitals and in concert with orchestras and choruses
throughout the United States and Israel. She was the soprano soloist
on the recently released CD of the "JOHN F. KENNEDY REQUIEM" by the
American composer William Macelli, and she is now in the process of
recording an album of Yiddish songs for Elora Records. She is
currently the Cantor at Temple Beth Avodah in Newton Centre (Boston),
Massachusetts.
WILLIAM MERRILL, Accompanist, is a well-known accompanist and vocal
coach who resides in Boston.
