RE: Passion Plays and Jewish Music

I haven't followed this entire discussion, but the words ......."in the
bible that refer to dancing"
leapt out at me.

Here is a link to a book about Israeli dances in the bible -

The Bible in Israeli Folk Dances
Matti Goldschmidt, one of the most knowledgeable instructors of Israeli
folk dances in the German-speaking countries of Europe has examined
every Israeli folk dance at hand and chosen those whose lyrics can be
traced back to the Bible.

He has researched the development of the dances and describes their
origins.

Wherever necessary, such as in dealing with preconceived notions of
supposedly "biblical" dances, he sets the record straight. Wherever
possible, Matti Goldschmidt has included detailed descriptions of the
dances and pictures for illustration. The result is a resource full of
information and inspiration for those who, in their own dealings with
Israeli folk dances, are interested in the dances' connection to the
Bible and want to do something with that knowledge.

The website link for this information is here:

Thanks for your votes of confidence and also for the suggestions of
alternate music to use. That was the next question of the person I was
speaking to; ie, if Israeli music isn't appropriate, then what should be
used instead? Then they wanted to know what the dancing would have
looked like back then--My understanding is that no one knows how dances
were done in that era, but that there are a few hints here and there in
the bible that refer to dancing.
