A Concert of Jewish Italian Music
with Ilana Kochinska (soprano)
and
Elizabeth Hastings (piano)
Suzanne Gilchrest (flute)
Meighan Stoops (clarinet)
Carlo Pellettieri (cello)
Featuring "Shema: Five Poems of Primo Levi," set to music by Simon Sargon.
Most of Levi's poetry was written shortly after his liberation from
Auschwitz. The five poems presented here are intensely personal and direct,
more emotional and as powerful in its way as the memoirs and novels for which
Levi is better known.
Also including music by Alberto Hemsi, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and
Salomone Rossi.
