Yiddish Radio

I haven't seen anyone note this one yet. If you're in the NYC area
I expect this'll be a great show. I saw it (or something like it
as KlezKamp this year and it was great.

Getting tickets ordered from CJH is much harder than it should be,
but this one may be worth it: just look at the band if nothing else.

Sunday March 17 at 7:00 pm

Henry Sapoznik, banjo; and The Yiddish Radio All Star Orchestra with
Peter Sokolow piano, arranger; Paul Pincus, saxophone;
Ray Muziker, clarinet; Shelley Horn, drums.
Host: Producer Dave Isay

A Journey to The Golden Age of Yiddish Radio

The Yiddish Radio Project parts the curtain on the 20th century's greatest
forgotten radio moments in this live premiere event for an upcoming NPR series.
Yiddish radio historian Henry Sapoznik and radio producer Dave Isay take us
through the rabbit hole to discover the surviving remnants of Yiddish radio
from the 1930s and 40s. Sapoznik, who has spent the last 15 years tracking them
down and preserving them, will play some of his favorite clips for the first
time publicly in over half a century, culminating in a sneak preview of the
Yiddish Radio Project's final episode, "Reunion with Siegbert Freiberg." Live
music will be performed by the Yiddish Radio All Star Orchestra. Plus special
appearances by surviving Yiddish radio veterans.

Tickets: $25.00. Tickets may be purchased through the Center for Jewish History
box office. Call (917) 606-8200 to order with a major credit card. To order by
mail, please indicate the program(s) for which you want tickets and send check
payable to:
Center for Jewish History/Box Office
