I will second Judith's words and merely add that M.F.K. Fisher and many
others have written inspiring words about lunch and other meals.
For once I'm not joking. (Mark your calendars.) While it cannot substitute
for hearing a piece of music performed (or even, for those who are really
adept sight-readers, seeing the score), reading a really great writer
describing a piece of music is nothing to be sneezed at. By way of example
I offer Frances Davis and Gary Giddins on jazz, Shaw on classical music,
many members of this list on Jewish music. You get the idea.

The world is new each morning--
that is God's gift, and a man should
believe he is reborn each day.
