in general, i am most interested in the historical aspect on the polish
dance...the "exhibitionist" mentality of dance theater (again,
as cultural artifact and due to my past involvement in performance-oriented
"art") becomes less of an urgent matter for me...i will
try to get to the historians panel at 10:30am...and here Mr Luminski in the
morning...but, making a connection with Ms Ingber, seems
most relevant...again, Helen, in what context are you and Ms Ingber

  An International Dance Symposium in honor of Jacek Luminski and Silesian
Dance Theatre

  This symposium will focus on the work of choreographer Jacek Luminski,
both by itself and within larger historical, critical, and theoretical
contexts. Topics will include contemporary dance theater as a genre in
Poland and elsewhere, the evolution of contemporary dance in post-Soviet
Europe, and 20th-century Polish dance history. It will provide an
unprecedented forum for contact and discussion between members of the
Swarthmore community and leading North American and European dance scholars
and critics. Sponsored by the William J. Cooper Foundation.
