Guitarist John Fahey

Guitar-players and music-lovers the world over today mourn
the passing of acoustic guitarist John Fahey at 61, who
slipped into a coma after open-heart surgery Monday.

His seminal self-release "The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death"
in 1959 was called "the most famous obscure album of recent times"
by Rolling Stone.

Fahey shared a Grammy in 1997 for his liner notes for
"Anthology of American Folk Music."

His influence in the area of open tunings on generations of
acoustic guitarists is incalculable.

May his memory be for a blessing.
